Job Title
Staff Analog Mixed-Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and validate analog and mixed-signal circuits with emphasis on high-speed SerDes interfaces for AI, cloud, and automotive applications. Own blocks from schematic through silicon, collaborate with layout and global engineering teams, and drive pre-silicon validation and silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 3+ years of hands-on analog/mixed-signal IC design experience (posting specifies 3+ years).
Responsibilities
Principal responsibilities include transistor-level design, verification, layout collaboration, and validation to ensure production-quality silicon.
- Design, simulate, and validate analog and mixed-signal circuits (high-speed SerDes AFEs/DFEs, clocking, regulators) in advanced CMOS.
- Partner with layout engineers to review and optimize custom layouts to minimize parasitics and meet performance targets.
- Make architecture- and circuit-level tradeoffs to optimize power, performance, area, robustness, and reliability.
- Develop, verify, and document comprehensive testbenches for rigorous pre-silicon validation.
- Drive robustness and quality sign-off, including PVT, mismatch, aging, reliability, and yield analysis.
- Collaborate with global teams to resolve technical issues and improve analog design methodologies.
- Support silicon bring-up, characterization, and correlation between silicon results and design specifications.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; listed items reflect requirements from the posting with degrees moved to the Education Requirements section.
- 3+ years hands-on analog and mixed-signal IC design experience, preferably with high-speed mixed-signal circuits.
- Strong transistor-level circuit design expertise and ability to deliver production-quality silicon.
- Solid knowledge of advanced CMOS technologies and receiver architectures.
- Proficiency with EDA tools and SPICE-based simulators; familiarity with advanced simulation methodologies.
- Experience in Unix/Linux environments and scripting (TCL, Python, or similar) to automate flows.
- Proven experience collaborating on custom analog layout and driving post-layout optimization.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to work across functional and geographic teams.
- Nice-to-have: direct SerDes interface experience, AFEs/DFEs/clocking/regulators expertise, deep experience with PVT/mismatch/aging/yield analysis, and hands-on silicon bring-up and correlation.
Education Requirements
MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree; posting allows equivalent practical experience. Fields referenced include electrical and computer engineering with emphasis on transistor-level design.
