Staff Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead the design and delivery of complex analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits across multiple applications. Provide technical leadership on architecture, circuit design, simulation, layout guidance, and cross-functional project execution.

Mentor junior engineers, contribute to project planning and budgeting, and collaborate with verification, process, test, and applications teams. Travel approximately 10%.

Experience Level

Senior level - role is targeted at engineers with significant experience; the posting prefers 7+ years of relevant analog circuit design experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for technical direction, hands-on circuit work, and cross-team coordination for complex IC projects.

  • Lead architecture development and optimization for analog and mixed-signal ICs.
  • Design, simulate, and debug block- and transistor-level circuits (amplifiers, filters, ADCs/DACs, sensor interfaces, multiplexers, power systems).
  • Perform simulation and statistical validation across process, voltage, and temperature corners using SPICE/MATLAB/Cadence or equivalent tools.
  • Provide layout guidance and collaborate with layout engineers to meet performance targets.
  • Coordinate with product definition, verification, process, test, and application teams to meet performance and business requirements.
  • Mentor and review work from junior engineers; transfer knowledge and improve team practices.
  • Contribute to project proposals, staffing, and budgeting decisions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • Expert-level analog circuit design skills (amplifiers, filters, data converters) and ability to make architectural trade-offs.
  • Advanced mixed-signal IC design experience, including signal integrity, noise mitigation, and power optimization.
  • Proficiency with simulation and modeling tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, and Cadence Design Suite for design validation.
  • Deep understanding of IC layout considerations and experience advising layout implementation for performance.
  • Strong knowledge of CMOS technology and design principles.
  • Expertise in ADC/DAC design and optimization of critical performance parameters.

Preferred / nice-to-have:

  • Experience with successful IC tape-outs and first-pass silicon.
  • Publication record or patents in analog/mixed-signal design.

Education Requirements

Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred (as stated in the posting). No other degree or certification requirements were specified; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
