SSD Customer Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Validate enterprise SSD products for compatibility, reliability, and performance across systems, operating systems, hardware configurations, and feature sets. The role focuses on test design, test execution, data analysis, debugging, triage, and automation to support firmware and hardware release qualification.

The engineer collaborates with firmware developers, validation engineers, and process owners to improve validation strategies, test coverage, and validation processes; acts as a subject-matter expert for customer test requirements and certification outcomes.

Entry-level β€” requires approximately 1 year of relevant engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and executing validation activities for SSD products and improving validation processes.

  • Design functional and non-functional test cases for firmware-driven SSD features and define pass/fail criteria (cycles, statistics, temperature).
  • Oversee and execute system-level compatibility and qualification tests across OS and hardware variants.
  • Automate test plans and frameworks using Python and relevant libraries.
  • Perform data analytics on test results and report metrics to qualify products for release.
  • Debug and triage firmware, software (Windows & Linux), and hardware issues; collaborate with FW and HW teams.
  • Serve as subject-matter expert for customer test requirements and industry certification results.
  • Review and improve test coverage and validation activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement new validation approaches and enable shift-left testing to find issues earlier in development.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience for the role.

  • Minimum ~1 year of engineering-related experience in validation or related roles.
  • Experience with enterprise SATA and PCIe SSDs, NAND, and memory/storage hierarchy.
  • Experience analyzing complex firmware and system-level software issues on Windows and Linux.
  • Experience with ASIC/FPGA systems and FPGA design tools.
  • Proficiency in Embedded C and object-oriented programming languages.
  • Test automation experience using Python and relevant frameworks/libraries.
  • Data analytics skills applied to validation/test results.
  • Familiarity with SSD triage practices and JIRA or equivalent issue-tracking tools.

Education Requirements

Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent practical experience; the posting specifies acceptance of a Bachelor's plus 1 year of experience or equivalent practical experience.
