Job Title

Sr. Substrates Development and Ramp Engineer

Role Summary

Support development and ramp of substrate materials and supplier processes to meet Intel Foundry product and supply-chain requirements. Work with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to define inspection methods, validate supplier process windows, and implement process and quality improvements to optimize yield, cost, and reliability.

Lead supplier selection, failure analysis, and specification development to reduce variability and mitigate single-source risks.

Experience Level

Senior β€” minimum 8 years of experience in semiconductor fabrication, substrate/motherboard, or assembly/test development or manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Define material inspection methodology and implement inspection standards and KPIs.
  • Conduct process, yield, and cost studies; identify improvement opportunities and drive implementation.
  • Lead supplier selection, qualification, and risk-mitigation for new business and single-source commodities.
  • Drive supplier process window validation and continuous improvement in quality, reliability, yield, and cost.
  • Manage quality excursions and perform root-cause and failure-mode analysis with suppliers.
  • Develop product and purchase specifications to ensure supplier compliance with performance and variability targets.
  • Track supply-demand trends and collaborate with supply-chain leads on mitigation plans.
  • Benchmark emerging technologies and contribute to long-range capability and roadmap planning.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor fab, substrate/motherboard, or assembly/test development or manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of process development, manufacturing operations, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience in quality management, data analytics, raw materials management, cleanroom operations, and foreign material control.
  • Supplier management experience, including supplier qualification and specification development.
  • Fluent business-level English, strong presentation and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Analytical problem solving and experience driving corrective actions and process improvements.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with production ramp activities and commodity sourcing strategies.
  • Background in reliability testing and advanced packaging processes.

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or PhD in Science or Engineering fields (for example Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Computer Engineering or related technical disciplines). The posting specifies a minimum of 8 years of relevant semiconductor or assembly/test industry experience.
