Sr. Manager, Digital Design
Role Summary
Lead digital design efforts for automotive networking products as the technical owner for system-level architecture, RTL IP development, and design closure. Work with architects, verification, software, and product teams to deliver complex digital systems.
Experience Level
Senior - minimum 12 years of experience in digital design and technical leadership.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, RTL architecture and delivery, and cross-functional coordination.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to digital design engineers.
- Define and influence product direction and technical roadmaps.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system-level architectures for complex digital designs.
- Architect, design, implement, and maintain RTL IP for digital systems using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Drive design closure and optimization for performance, power, and area (PPA).
- Define verification strategies, review verification plans, and support debug and design closure activities.
- Guide methodology improvements and establish best practices across the organization.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, leadership experience, and practical engineering capabilities.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and experience mentoring engineers.
- Deep experience in system-level architecture, design, and verification for complex digital systems (Verilog/SystemVerilog).
- Proven experience with timing closure and PPA optimization.
- Experience translating product requirements into architecture, specifications, and RTL implementations.
- Proficiency with one or more programming languages (C/C++, Python, TCL).
- Familiarity with on-chip communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART).
- Experience designing and integrating complex multi-clock digital systems.
- Willingness to travel (~10%).
Nice-to-have:
- FPGA emulation or pre-silicon system validation experience.
- Experience with Ethernet, switching, packet processing, MACsec, TSN, or networking technologies.
- Exposure to microcontroller-based subsystems and related development tools.
- Familiarity with automotive functional safety flows (e.g., ISO 26262).
- Knowledge of security or encryption techniques used in embedded systems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field. (Degree requirement stated in source.)
