Job Title
Sr Design Engineer, HBM
Role Summary
Work in Micron's Heterogeneous Integration Group to design, verify and sustain High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) products. The role focuses on silicon debug, product sustaining (ECOs/spec changes), cross-functional issue resolution, and improving product quality for AI/ML and HPC systems.
Experience Level
Senior-level engineer.
Responsibilities
The engineer will support new HBM designs and own sustaining activities across the product lifecycle, driving technical issues to closure.
- Participate in new HBM product design with the architecture team.
- Own sustaining activities for one or more products: implement ECOs and spec changes, drive root-cause analysis and reticle revisions.
- Collaborate with Architects, Design Engineering, PSE, TD, packaging and system teams to execute issue resolution and prioritize work.
- Identify and debug yield, reliability, timing, and performance issues to improve product quality.
- Support customer bring-up, qualification, and system-level debug as required.
- Capture sustaining learnings to improve design quality, debug efficiency, and verification methodologies.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role, followed by preferred skills.
Must-have:
- Strong understanding of DRAM/HBM architecture and high-speed memory interfaces.
- Experience in digital and/or custom design and verification.
- Hands-on silicon debug or post-silicon validation experience.
- Proven ability to independently drive complex technical issues to closure.
- Proficiency with AI tools (e.g., Claude Code or similar) to improve design quality and efficiency.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with HBM/DDR/LPDDR or other high-speed I/O systems.
- System-level debug and silicon-to-system correlation experience.
- Timing and margin analysis, signal and power integrity knowledge.
- DFT, mBIST or test-mode debug experience.
- Programming/scripting for debug automation (Python preferred).
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Education Requirements
Ph.D. OR MS with 2+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
