Spice Modeling Engineer
Role Summary
Member of Broadcom's Central Engineering technology platform team. Develop, calibrate and validate compact device models and silicon-to-SPICE correlation flows to support high-volume product design.
Work includes model development for circuit simulators, measurement automation, data analysis, and collaboration with device layout and design teams.
Experience Level
Senior. Ideal experience: MS +10 years or PhD +7 years; expects an experienced engineer with several years in device modeling and silicon correlation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include model development, silicon correlation, measurement and automation:
- Develop and validate compact device models for HSPICE and SPECTRE.
- Implement and maintain GDS-to-SPICE design flows in Cadence/Virtuoso.
- Plan and execute device and circuit characterization from DC to RF measurements.
- Automate measurement control and data-analysis workflows for lab equipment.
- Collect, analyze, and correlate silicon data to models and simulation.
- Support design teams by providing device models and process characterization results.
- Collaborate on test-chip layout for process characterization and device modeling.
- Document and present results to a global engineering community.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Device physics and process-technology knowledge for 65 nm and newer nodes.
- Hands-on experience with device and circuit characterization using DC to RF test equipment.
- Experience with HSPICE/SPECTRE modeling and Cadence/Virtuoso GDS-to-SPICE flows.
- Automation skills for data analysis and instrument control (scripting, test automation).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Nice to have: layout experience with device-modeling test structures.
Education Requirements
Ideal: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with ~10+ years’ relevant experience or PhD with ~7+ years. Degrees in Materials Science, Physics, or related technical fields are also acceptable. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
