Software Principal Engineer - Power Electronics

Role Summary

Lead development of embedded software for power electronics platforms within the Global Software team. The role reports to the VP, Power Electronics and focuses on firmware and low-level software required for silicon bring-up, power-on, and product integration.

The engineer will work with hardware, middleware, validation, and cross-functional teams to deliver drivers, BSP, HAL, and post-power-on support for new platforms.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting requests 8+ years of software engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary day-to-day responsibilities and deliverables include:

  • Design, develop, debug, and test embedded software components: drivers, BSP, HAL, and POST.
  • Create and execute reference code and collateral for products.
  • Participate in silicon product development and first-silicon power-on events; provide post power-on support.
  • Support middleware and product integration teams during bring-up and validation.
  • Engage with cross-team validation and verification organizations to resolve issues.
  • Produce and maintain embedded feature and product documentation.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications and relevant experience required for the role.

  • Must-have: 8+ years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated embedded software development and debugging.
  • Must-have: Prior experience with power electronics or embedded system design and platform bring-up.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with drivers, board support packages (BSP), hardware abstraction layers (HAL), and post-power-on procedures.
  • Must-have: Experience participating in silicon/product bring-up and cross-functional technical teams.
  • Preferred: Product architect or Software Design Team Lead experience; customer-facing roles and people management experience are a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science (electronics focus), or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience or training will also be considered.
