Job Title

Software Development Engineer — FPGA / Hardware-Assisted Verification

Role Summary

Join the Hardware-Assisted Verification Division at Siemens EDA to design, develop, and validate FPGA-based prototyping solutions for the Veloce proFPGA platform. Work in an R&D team to deliver HDL modules, low-level validation software, and integrated system components.

Primary mission: produce reliable, high-performance FPGA designs and supporting software that meet timing, capacity, and performance requirements for prototyping platforms.

Experience Level

Mid-level; typical candidates have relevant industry experience or equivalent practical experience. (No specific years listed.)

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement digital hardware using HDL (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog).
  • Develop FPGA-based solutions and optimize for timing, capacity, and performance.
  • Perform static timing analysis (STA), validation, and testing using simulation and proFPGA platforms.
  • Develop and maintain low-level validation software and supporting tools (e.g., C++).
  • Integrate system components and collaborate closely with software and cross-functional teams.
  • Debug RTL designs and simulations to diagnose and resolve issues.

Requirements

Must-have skills and technologies:

  • Proficiency in digital design with HDL (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog).
  • Hands-on FPGA design experience and familiarity with FPGA tools (Vivado, Quartus) and STA.
  • Strong RTL debugging and simulation skills.
  • Proficiency in C++ and object-oriented software development.
  • Familiarity with Linux and scripting languages (TCL, Bash, Python).
  • Experience with version control systems (Git, Perforce, SVN) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Fluent in English.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with proFPGA prototyping platforms and low-level component validation.
  • Experience in capacity planning and performance optimization for FPGA systems.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
