Role Overview

As a SOC Verification Lead Engineer at Advanced Micro Devices, your primary objective will be planning and executing the verification processes for AMD’s graphics processor IP. Your work will ensure that both new and existing features are free of bugs, reflecting high standards of quality in our product designs.

Job Scope

This role requires an individual with a strong enthusiasm for complex processor architecture and digital design. Collaboration is key, as you will be working alongside engineers distributed across various locations and time zones. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a team-oriented attitude, ready to tackle challenges faced during the project cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain tests specifically for functional verification at the SOC level.
  • Create testbench components supporting next-generation IP.
  • Enhance existing verification libraries to facilitate SOC and full-chip verification.
  • Provide technical support to various other engineering teams.
  • Assist the Hardware Emulation team with the porting process of RTL to platforms such as Palladium, Zebu, or HAPS/Protium.

Necessary Skills and Experience

Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with industry-standard verification methodologies including OVM, UVM, or VMM. Knowledge in Verilog, digital logic design, and system-level architecture (including memory controllers like DDR4/DDR5 and various buses like AXI/AHB) is essential. Proficiency in UNIX environments and scripting (Perl or Python), along with experience in utilizing design tools such as VCS, NCSIM/XCELIUM, and debugging tools, is also highly valued.

Education Requirements

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, accompanied by a minimum of 8 years of experience in design verification, is required. Additional skills in OOP coding (specifically System Verilog, SpecmanE, or C++) and expertise in software development processes can enhance your candidacy.
