Job Title

SoC Software Engineer – New College Graduate 2026

Role Summary

Entry-level software engineering role developing system and SoC software for heterogeneous computing platforms used in data center, automotive, and embedded products. Work spans firmware, kernel and user-space software, validation, and system bring-up across early silicon to production.

This position involves cross-functional collaboration with architecture, ASIC, firmware, platform, and product-introduction teams to deliver reliable, high-performance platforms.

Experience Level

Entry-level (New college graduate). Suitable for candidates finishing or recently completed a BS/MS; typically 0–2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities involve software development, system validation, and debugging across the full stack of SoC platforms.

  • Design and implement SoC software, validation solutions, and test frameworks for CPU, SoC, and GPU platforms (user space, kernel, firmware, boot software).
  • Build system validation and reliability software supporting virtual prototypes, silicon bring-up, and large-scale deployment.
  • Contribute to system software architecture and integrate capabilities across the software stack.
  • Investigate hardware/software issues, develop fixes, and improve performance, reliability, power efficiency, and serviceability.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define requirements and bring new computing platforms to production.

Requirements

Core technical skills and collaborative abilities required for the role.

  • Must-have: Strong C or C++ programming skills and understanding of object-oriented design.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with low-level systems software and device drivers; understanding of OS concepts and computer architecture.
  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving and debugging skills; curiosity about hardware/software interaction.
  • Must-have: Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of Linux systems or kernel internals, experience with SoC development, pre-silicon environments, silicon bring-up, or hardware validation.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience contributing to team or open-source software projects, technical competitions, coursework, internships, or personal projects; exposure to AI or automation for validation.

Education Requirements

Pursuing or recently completed a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
