Job Title

SoC Software Engineer - New College Grad 2027

Role Summary

Join a team that builds system software for heterogeneous computing platforms used in AI, HPC, and data center products. Work will span hardware, firmware, operating systems, and applications to bring server-class platforms from early silicon to production.

This entry-level role focuses on low-level system software, validation, and reliability engineering while collaborating across architecture, ASIC, firmware, and platform teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level (New college graduate). Suitable for candidates with little to no professional experience; typically 0–2 years.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement SoC software, validation solutions, and test frameworks across user space, kernel, firmware, and boot software.
  • Develop system validation and reliability software to support virtual prototypes, silicon bring-up, and production deployment.
  • Contribute to system software architecture and integrate new capabilities across the stack.
  • Collaborate with architecture, ASIC, firmware, platform, and NPI teams to define and meet platform requirements.
  • Investigate hardware/software interactions, debug complex failures, and improve performance, reliability, power efficiency, and serviceability.
  • Research and apply emerging technologies and industry standards to solve practical engineering problems.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Strong C or C++ programming skills and understanding of object-oriented design.
  • Familiarity with low-level systems software, device drivers, firmware, embedded software, or other hardware-facing programming.
  • Foundational understanding of processor and computer architecture (preferably ARM).
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of Linux systems or kernel internals.
  • Understanding of server, PC, embedded, or other complex computing architectures.
  • Experience with SoC development, pre-silicon environments, silicon bring-up, or hardware validation (coursework, research, internships, or projects).
  • Experience contributing to team software projects, open-source projects, technical competitions, or substantial personal projects.
  • Exposure to AI, automation, or data-driven techniques for accelerating validation and analyzing failures.

Education Requirements

Pursuing or recently completed a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field - or equivalent practical experience.
