SoC Power Thermal Performance Val & Opt Engineer (Contract)
Role Summary
Contract engineering role (3-year Intel contract) on the Data Center Group focused on SoC-level power, thermal, and performance validation and optimization for data-center products. Work involves cross-functional collaboration with architecture, design, firmware, and software teams to meet power, thermal, and performance targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role expects approximately 3+ years of relevant experience in SoC power and performance validation and related Pre-Si simulation/emulation work.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include validation, debugging, and infrastructure development to ensure SoC power/thermal/performance goals are met.
- Develop and execute SoC-level power, thermal, and performance validation and optimization plans.
- Collaborate with architecture, design, firmware, and software teams to meet targets and specifications.
- Define and run methodologies to validate hardware/software optimizations against KPIs.
- Perform SoC-level debug to identify root causes and resolve power, thermal, and performance failures.
- Configure and use data loggers and lab equipment to collect and analyze thermal and performance data.
- Develop and maintain validation infrastructure: performance monitors, behavioral checkers, and test environments.
- Produce validation reports and communicate results to cross-functional teams.
- Drive continuous improvement of validation strategies and processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and constraints for initial consideration; preferred items are noted separately.
- Minimum 3+ years experience in SoC power and performance validation.
- Minimum 3+ years experience with Pre-Si simulation and emulation workflows.
- Minimum 3+ years developing or optimizing power/performance KPIs.
- 2+ years debugging SoC-level power, thermal, and performance failures.
- Experience with silicon verification, test program development, and test plan execution.
- Experience programming in Python for automation and data analysis.
- Knowledge of hardware/software optimizations for power and performance.
- Familiarity with RTL languages, in-circuit emulation, and FPGA prototyping is a plus.
- Familiarity with lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer) and validation tools (data loggers, behavioral checkers) is a plus.
- This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Graduate degree (Master's or PhD). No explicit equivalent-experience language provided.
