Role Summary
The SoC Digital Physical Design Engineer will be part of the NXP team in Catania, focused on designing high-performance microcontrollers (MCUs). This position requires collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines to successfully implement and deliver advanced integrated circuit designs.
Experience Level
Senior, with significant experience in physical design implementation and technical leadership.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the full physical design flow for complex SoCs, from floorplanning to GDSII.
- Optimize methodologies to achieve performance and area targets.
- Analyze critical paths and timing issues to ensure timing closure.
- Collaborate with design and architectural teams to resolve integration issues.
- Perform physical verification checks (DRC, LVS) and address issues.
- Evaluate and recommend EDA tools and methodologies for design improvement.
- Mentor junior engineers and enhance team productivity.
- Document and present for design reviews and project phases.
- Promote continuous improvement of design processes.
Requirements
Essential qualifications include:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, VLSI Design, or related field.
- Experience with advanced tech nodes (16ff and below).
- Expertise with EDA tools from Synopsys, Cadence, or Siemens.
- In-depth understanding of physical design processes including P&R, CTS, STA, and verification techniques.
- Strong skills in timing closure and power integrity analysis.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Tcl, Python, Perl).
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience in a leadership role is a plus.
Education Requirements
A Master's degree in a relevant engineering field is required.
