SOC Design Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
SOC Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Work on SoC/IP verification within the ASICS Engineering team to help define, model, design, verify, validate and document ASIC blocks and SoCs. The role supports architecture and implementation activities across the RTL-to-GDS and custom-design flows and collaborates with cross-functional teams to meet system requirements.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Suited for candidates with early-career experience (typically 0–3 years); Qualcomm lists 6+ months experience in architecture/design tools, scripting, and design verification as preferred.
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Apply ASIC knowledge to support definition, modeling, design (digital/analog), verification, validation, implementation, and documentation of IP and SoC blocks.
- Assist in creation of architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations from system-level requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to develop implementation strategies that meet system and customer requirements.
- Support evaluation of design flow from RTL to synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis, and verification; or for custom circuits, support layout/verification flow.
- Use EDA/design tools (examples: RTL-to-GDS flow, Virtuoso) to execute architecture and design tasks for blocks/SoCs or IC packages.
- Write technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC projects and communicate results within the team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- ASIC knowledge covering at least one stage of the digital or analog design and verification flow.
- Design verification methods experience (testbench development, simulation, functional verification).
- Scripting / programming ability to automate tasks and work with verification frameworks.
- Familiarity with EDA and implementation flows such as RTL-to-GDS, synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis; experience with tools like Virtuoso.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate within cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with system/architecture tools and languages used in ASIC/SoC design (examples: C++, SystemVerilog, verification frameworks).
- Exposure to Arm architecture, algorithms, or automation frameworks.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
