SMTS/MTS/Principal Engineer - Product Quality Assurance (ID1)

Role Summary

Technical leader on the Product Quality and Reliability team responsible for ensuring reliability and quality of wafers shipped from Micron's Boise manufacturing site. Partner with product engineering, design, technology development, manufacturing, and reliability teams to identify risks, solve complex technical problems, and drive improvements in performance, yield, and customer satisfaction.

Experience Level

Senior-level — 10+ years of semiconductor engineering experience, including product engineering, product quality, test, yield enhancement, reliability, technology development, or related roles.

Responsibilities

Lead technical investigations and define strategies that improve product quality, reliability, and yield.

• Lead root-cause investigations for yield excursions, product deviations, and quality issues; define containment and sustainable corrective actions.
• Define product quality and reliability monitoring strategies and apply data-driven analysis to improve product performance.
• Direct advanced failure analysis and silicon debug by integrating design, test, process, manufacturing, reliability, and product data.
• Assess technical risks for deviations, qualifications, manufacturing changes, and customer returns; recommend actions to leadership.
• Develop and lead qualification strategies for new products, technology nodes, and process changes.
• Establish and improve quality methodologies, analytics frameworks, and technical standards.
• Lead global, cross-functional initiatives balancing quality, manufacturability, cost, schedule, and customer requirements.
• Mentor and coach engineers; lead technical reviews, forums, and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Represent the organization in technical communities and contribute to innovation through patents, publications, or presentations.

Requirements

Core technical skills and domain experience required to perform this role.

• Must-have: 10+ years of semiconductor engineering experience in product engineering, product quality, test, yield enhancement, reliability, technology development, or related fields.
• Must-have: Experience with DRAM, NAND, or other advanced semiconductor memory technologies.
• Must-have: Deep understanding of semiconductor device behavior, manufacturing processes, product testing methodologies, and quality/reliability principles.
• Must-have: Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical investigations and deliver measurable improvements in yield, quality, reliability, cycle time, or customer experience.
• Nice-to-have: Experience leading product qualification, silicon bring-up, yield learning, reliability assessments, production ramp activities, or customer issue resolution.
• Nice-to-have: Experience applying statistical analysis, experimental design, data visualization, structured problem-solving methods, and AI-enabled tools to engineering data.
• Nice-to-have: Track record of innovation (patents, publications), strong communication and presentation skills, and experience influencing multi-functional teams globally.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master's degree or PhD in the same fields. The posting does not list specific certifications or explicit 'equivalent experience' language.
