Silicon Validation Firmware Engineer

Role Summary

As a Silicon Validation Firmware Engineer at Meta, you will develop and own firmware infrastructure used to validate custom silicon from pre-silicon emulation through post-silicon bring-up. This role involves working at the intersection of hardware and software, building low-level firmware, validation frameworks, and debug tooling that ensure the reliability of Meta's custom chips.

Experience Level

Senior level; requires 6+ years of experience in validation firmware development or embedded software for custom ASICs.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining low-level validation firmware in C/C++ targeting custom ASICs.
• Leading pre-silicon and post-silicon validation efforts with firmware-driven test plans.
• Debugging complex SoC interfaces like PCIe, DDR, USB.
• Building and maintaining firmware infrastructure such as bootloaders and drivers.
• Collaborating with design teams to identify and root-cause silicon bugs.
• Driving firmware validation methodology improvements.
• Developing automated test frameworks for continuous validation.
• Documenting validation coverage and known issues for reviews.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant technical field.
• 6+ years experience developing validation firmware or embedded software in C/C++.
• 3+ years of experience with pre-silicon and post-silicon debug.
• Experience with EDA tools and scripting for emulation environments.
• Experience developing hardware abstraction layers or bootloaders.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

• Familiarity with hardware-software co-design workflows.
• Experience with machine learning or computer vision accelerator subsystems.
• Experience with SoC architecture including CPU cores and memory subsystems.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
