Job Title

Silicon Test Engineer (Digital)

Role Summary

Member of the Product Development and Test Engineering team responsible for design validation, characterization, and production deployment of IP for 5G SoC products in advanced FinFET process technologies. The role partners with IC design, software, systems and operations engineering to enable high-volume manufacturability.

Primary activities include operating automated test equipment (ATE) to validate and debug digital silicon, developing test hardware and software, characterizing devices across process/voltage/temperature corners, and releasing cost-effective production tests for mass manufacturing.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting indicates more than 1 year of product development/test validation experience; some preferred items call for 2+ years of schematic capture and circuit simulation experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include test development, characterization, and production release activities:

  • Operate ATE to validate and debug new digital product functionality.
  • Develop test hardware and embedded/software test routines for device validation and production.
  • Characterize IP and chips across corners (process, voltage, temperature) and document results.
  • Design and release cost-effective production test solutions for mass manufacturing.
  • Collaborate closely with IC design, software, systems, and operations teams to enable manufacturability.
  • Analyze test data to identify failures and drive design/test improvements.
  • Use and maintain measurement equipment and lab tools required for test and validation.
  • Perform on-site lab tasks including equipment transport/installation and extended monitoring of test systems when required.

Requirements

Summary of required and preferred technical skills and experience. Education requirements are listed separately below.

  • Must-have: >1 year experience in product development, test validation, or high-volume production activities related to System-on-Chip (SoC) domains (Compute, Mobile, Data Center, Automotive, IoT).
  • Must-have: Practical experience operating or supporting Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and using measurement instruments (oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer, etc.).
  • Must-have: Ability to develop and debug test firmware/software; familiarity with scripting or programming (Python, C/C++ or equivalent).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with digital design, CPU architecture, ATPG/Scan, memory BIST, high-speed SerDes, or sensor validation methodologies.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools (2+ years preferred) and familiarity with analog/mixed-signal blocks (ADC, DAC, PLL, LDO, LNA, etc.).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with specific ATE vendors (Advantest, Teradyne) and data analysis software (JMP, NI tools, Exensio).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related field is listed as the minimum qualification. A Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or related fields is preferred. The posting allows related-field equivalents but does not specify formal certifications.
