Job Title

Silicon Photonics TD Process/Product Integration Engineer

Role Summary

Join Intel's Silicon Photonics Process Development and Manufacturing (SPDM) team to drive fabrication process development, product integration, and yield and reliability qualification for next-generation optical interconnect products. The role serves as the primary fab contact for integrating silicon photonics products into the F11x fabrication process and leads cross-functional efforts across design, process engineering, yield, test, quality, and external assembly/test partners.

The position focuses on New Product Introduction (NPI), process flow definition, experimental characterization, yield optimization, and preparing products for production transfer.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” requires 2+ years of relevant industry experience in semiconductor and/or silicon photonics process technology.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include process integration, characterization, and driving product readiness through qualification and production transfer.

  • Collaborate with yield analysis, device and defect engineers, designers, and process engineers to ensure processes meet yield and reliability targets at product release.
  • Define process flows, procedures, and equipment requirements for new devices and products; plan and execute experiments to characterize process behavior.
  • Drive yield optimization and maintain NPI roadmaps through product life-cycle milestones, including Test/SORT/Burn-in capacity and capability planning.
  • Act as primary fab technical lead for integrating customer roadmap products into the fabrication process and manage cross-functional technical coordination.
  • Train production and receiving engineers for transfer to high-volume manufacturing and support reliability qualification activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Minimum 2+ years experience in semiconductor and/or silicon photonics process technology.
  • Minimum 2+ years experience in advanced data analysis and statistical methods (examples: JMP, GAJT, SQL), statistical process control (SPC), and design of experiments (DOE).
  • Experience planning and executing process characterization experiments and driving yield improvement.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work with device engineering, test, planning, quality, and external manufacturing partners.
  • Preferred: 1+ year experience in optics, photonics, lasers, SiP, or III/V compound semiconductor technologies and prior process integration roles in silicon photonics or related semiconductor domains.
  • Preferred: Good time management, self-motivation, and ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Education Requirements

Master's or Ph.D. in Engineering (e.g., Chemical, Electrical, Materials) or Science disciplines such as Materials Science, Physics, Optics/Photonics. The posting indicates these degrees as minimum qualifications; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
