Job Title
Silicon Photonics TD Process/Product Integration Engineer
Role Summary
Member of Intel's Silicon Photonics Process Development and Manufacturing (SPDM) team responsible for integrating silicon photonics products into fabrication processes. The role drives process development, yield improvement, NPI roadmaps, and reliability qualifications to meet product milestones.
Experience Level
Entry or early-career role. Requires a minimum of 2+ years of relevant semiconductor or silicon photonics process experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include process integration, development, and cross-functional coordination to deliver product qualifications and yield targets.
- Define and establish process flows, procedures, and equipment for new devices and products.
- Plan and execute experiments to characterize processes throughout development.
- Collaborate with yield analysis, device/defect engineers, designers, and process engineers to meet yield and reliability requirements.
- Drive yield optimization and New Product Introduction (NPI) roadmaps.
- Manage Test/SORT/Burn-in capacity and capability to support product qualifications.
- Act as primary fab contact for product integration and transfer to high-volume manufacturing; train production/receiving engineers as needed.
- Work in cross-functional teams including finance, planning, wafer-level test, quality & reliability, and OSAT partners to resolve technical issues and deliver milestones.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 2+ years experience in semiconductor or silicon photonics process technology.
- 2+ years experience in advanced data analysis and statistical methods (examples: JMP, GAJT, SQL), statistical process control (SPC), and design of experiments (DOE).
- Experience with process development, yield analysis, and driving NPI or yield improvement programs.
- Ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and to communicate with design, process, test, and manufacturing groups.
- Practical skills in planning experiments, characterizing processes, and transferring processes to production.
Nice-to-have
- Experience in optics/photonic technologies (SiP, lasers, III/V compounds) or prior process integration roles in silicon photonics.
- Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a relevant technical field.
- Strong time management, problem solving, and self-motivation in fast-paced environments.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Materials, etc.) or a Science discipline such as Materials Science, Physics, or Optics/Photonics. Preferred: Master's or Ph.D. in a related engineering or science field.
