Job Title

Silicon/Electrical Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Work on the Analog Validation team within Silicon & Platform Engineering to validate next-generation CPU I/O and platform interface technologies. The role focuses on developing and executing electrical validation plans, debugging silicon and platform issues, and driving solutions from bring-up through production readiness.

The engineer will collaborate across hardware, firmware/BIOS, design, manufacturing, and validation teams to characterize high-speed interfaces, automate tests, and improve product reliability and performance.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience: 3+ years with a Bachelor's degree or 1+ years with a Master's degree as described in the posting.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include validation planning, test execution, debugging, and automation for CPU I/O and platform interfaces.

  • Develop and execute electrical validation plans for CPU I/O and platform interfaces.
  • Create validation methodologies, test content, and automation to evaluate electrical performance and functionality.
  • Perform silicon and platform debugging to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
  • Use lab equipment and measurement tools to characterize high-speed electrical interfaces and system behavior.
  • Develop and maintain validation scripts and automation solutions (Python preferred).
  • Collaborate with hardware, BIOS/firmware, design, manufacturing, and validation teams to resolve technical issues and support production readiness.
  • Analyze test results and provide data-driven recommendations to improve product quality and reliability.
  • Document validation methodologies, test procedures, findings, and recommendations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Experience with high-speed analog and digital circuits related to CPU I/O.
  • Experience in mixed-signal design validation, RTL validation, or scripting in pre- or post-silicon environments.
  • Proficiency in software development with Python or C/C++ for test automation and validation.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware lab work, test equipment, computer systems, or test stations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective verbal and written communication, and ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Nice-to-have (preferred):

  • High-speed hardware design experience including schematic capture and layout.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity and power delivery networks.
  • Familiarity with interface standards such as USB3.2, USB4, DisplayPort, HDMI, and PCIe.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in the same field with 1+ years of relevant experience. The posting allows related technical fields; equivalent practical experience is represented via the stated years of experience paired with the degree.
