Job Title

Silicon/Electrical Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Work on the Analog Validation team within Silicon & Platform Engineering to validate next-generation CPU I/O and platform technologies. The role focuses on electrical characterization, silicon and platform debugging, and building validation automation from silicon bring-up through production readiness.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience expectations align with the posted qualifications (see Education Requirements for degree + years guidance).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include planning and executing electrical validation, debugging silicon/platform issues, and developing automation and test content.

  • Develop and execute electrical validation plans for CPU I/O interfaces and related platform technologies.
  • Create validation methodologies, test content, and automation to evaluate electrical performance and functionality.
  • Perform silicon and platform debugging, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
  • Use lab equipment and measurement tools to characterize high-speed electrical interfaces and system behavior.
  • Develop and maintain validation scripts and automation (primarily Python).
  • Collaborate with hardware, BIOS, firmware, design, manufacturing, and validation teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Analyze test results and provide data-driven recommendations to improve product quality and reliability.
  • Support validation across the product lifecycle: pre-silicon activities, bring-up, characterization, qualification, and production readiness.
  • Document validation methodologies, test procedures, findings, and recommendations.

Requirements

Required technical skills and experience (must-have first, then preferred items).

  • Must-have: Experience validating high-speed analog and digital circuits for CPU I/O or equivalent platform-level electrical validation work.
  • Must-have: Experience in mixed-signal design validation, RTL-based validation workflows, and/or scripting in pre- or post-silicon environments.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in software development for validation and automation (Python or C/C++).
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with hardware lab equipment, test stations, and measurement systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate across disciplines and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred / nice-to-have:

  • High-speed hardware design experience (schematic capture and layout).
  • Experience with signal integrity and power delivery network analysis.
  • Familiarity with interface standards such as USB3.2, USB4, DisplayPort, HDMI, and PCIe.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 1+ years of relevant experience (as stated in the posting).
