Signal Integrity Intern
Role Summary
Join the Infra HDRTP team in Menlo Park for a 12-week internship focused on designing, simulating, and validating high-speed electrical interfaces for Meta's AI, compute, storage, and network platforms. Work with cross-functional teams and ODM partners on NPI projects and receive mentorship from senior engineers.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship suitable for current graduate students or those holding a graduate degree. Duration: 12 weeks in Menlo Park, CA.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include simulation, design, and validation of high-speed links and supporting system components.
- Collaborate on AI and network hardware designs from concept through deployment with XFN teams and suppliers.
- Define requirements and design, develop, and test passive and active electrical interfaces for high-speed links (224 Gbps+, PCIe Gen6+, etc.).
- Perform pre-layout and post-layout signal integrity modeling and simulation, including COM and IBIS-AMI model simulation.
- Conduct PCB stackup analysis and AC/DC power integrity validation.
- Design and test components and develop software automation for systems and products as needed.
- Coordinate with system and ASIC suppliers to validate designs for development, planning, operation, and fleet deployment.
Requirements
Must-have skills, logistical requirements, and eligibility.
- Theoretical foundation and practical experience in electrical design and validation.
- Experience with computer and server system architecture.
- Proficiency in CAD tools for schematic capture, PCB layout, and ADS simulation.
- Authorization to work in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain it during employment.
- Availability to complete a 12-week onsite internship in Menlo Park, CA.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge and practical experience in high-speed SI, electromagnetics, antenna, and microwave technologies.
- Experience with board design from schematic entry to layout and fabrication.
- Familiarity with SI/PI tools (HFSS, CST, HyperLynx, ADS, SPICE) and COM tools; knowledge of IEEE 802.3.dj specifications.
- Hands-on lab experience with VNA, TDR, spectrum analyzers, and high-speed oscilloscopes.
- Experience or familiarity with semiconductor devices, VLSI, and microelectronic devices.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing or holding a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, or a related technical field. Candidate must intend to return to a full-time degree program after the internship (i.e., enrollment or degree-status requirement applies).
