Signal Integrity Intern

Role Summary

Meta's Infra HDRTP team is hiring a platform Signal Integrity (SI) intern to support design, optimization, and validation of hardware platforms for AI, compute, storage, and network infrastructure. The intern will work with cross-functional teams and ODM partners during the NPI design phase, gaining hands-on experience with high-speed interfaces and hardware validation.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for students; role is intended for candidates currently enrolled in a graduate degree program (Masters) and returning to their program after the internship.

Responsibilities

Contribute to design and validation of high-speed hardware platforms and collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.

• Collaborate on AI and network hardware design from concept to deployment.
• Define requirements and design passive and active electrical interfaces for high-speed links (224 Gbps+, PCIe Gen6+, and similar).
• Perform pre-layout and post-layout signal integrity modeling and simulation.
• Conduct PCB stackup analysis and AC/DC power integrity validation.
• Run COM and IBIS-AMI model simulations for channel/channel behavior.
• Design, develop, and test components and develop software automation for system validation.
• Work with system suppliers, ASIC suppliers, and ODM partners to drive development and deployment requirements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, authorization, and availability for the internship period. Preferred skills are listed separately.

• Demonstrated theoretical foundation and practical experience in electrical design and validation.
• Experience with computer and server system architecture.
• Proficiency with CAD tools for schematic capture, PCB layout, and ADS simulation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain work authorization in the country of employment.
• Availability for a 12-week onsite internship in Menlo Park, CA.

Nice-to-have:

• Theoretical and practical knowledge in high-speed signal integrity, electromagnetics, antenna and microwave concepts.
• Experience with board design from schematic entry through layout and fabrication.
• Familiarity with semiconductor device concepts, VLSI, and microelectronic devices.
• Experience with SI/PI tools such as HFSS, CST, HyperLynx, ADS, and SPICE.
• Familiarity with IEEE 802.3.dj specifications and COM tool workflows.
• Practical experience with lab equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, VNA, TDR, real-time or sampling scopes).

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing or holding a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, or a related field. Candidates must intend to return to a full-time degree program after the internship.
