Job Title

Signal and Power Integrity Engineer (Senior to Staff)

Role Summary

Join Qualcomm's Central Hardware System team supporting signal integrity and power integrity (SIPI) for next-generation server projects. The role partners with IC, package, and PCB designers to ensure system-level constraints are met prior to package tape-out and to optimize DDR, SerDes, and PDN performance.

Experience Level

Senior to Staff level. Candidates typically have multi-year experience in DDR/SerDes, package, PCB, or system design; Staff-level roles expect broader technical leadership and demonstrated expertise.

Responsibilities

Deliver system- and component-level SIPI engineering to enable high-performance compute/server designs.

  • Perform package and PCB electromagnetic extraction for time-domain and frequency-domain analysis.
  • Conduct system-level analysis for DDR, SerDes, and power delivery networks (PDN).
  • Develop and validate design guidelines for package and PCB layouts.
  • Evaluate ball assignments and PCB/package interactions for system impact.
  • Create technical reports, documentation, and presentations for cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with IP owners, package, PCB, and simulation teams to align requirements and deliverables.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and domain experience; preferred skills listed separately.

  • 3+ years of experience in DDR/SerDes, package, PCB, or system design for compute, automotive, or server products.
  • Strong background in electromagnetics, transmission line theory, and crosstalk analysis.
  • Experience with field solvers such as HFSS, Q3D, Sentinel-PSI, or Clarity.
  • Experience with circuit and system simulation tools such as ADS and HSPICE.
  • Working knowledge of PCB/package layout tools (Cadence Allegro/APD/SIP or Mentor Xpedition).
  • Ability to perform package/PCB extraction and interpret results for system-level recommendations.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and technical documentation skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve engineering efficiency.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and programming for analysis and automation.
  • Familiarity with interface and design specs such as LPDDRx, PCIe, and XLink.

Education Requirements

One of the following is expected: Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 4+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 3+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 2+ years of relevant experience. Preferred: Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field. (Related technical fields or equivalent practical experience accepted as described.)
