Job Title

Senior Verification Engineer - Security

Role Summary

The Senior Verification Engineer will design and execute verification plans for Security IP and embedded processor subsystems. You will develop testbenches, verification models, and strategies for security features such as applied cryptography, key management, secure boot and hardware root of trust, and collaborate with design, firmware and product teams for functional sign-off.

Location: Toronto (hybrid). Salary range: CA$125,800–CA$170,200 per year.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 5+ years of relevant design or verification experience in digital IP, embedded compute subsystems, or SoCs.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include verification planning, implementation and delivery for Security IP and associated subsystems.

  • Define verification scope and create detailed test plans for security and embedded processor IP.
  • Develop and maintain UVM/SystemVerilog/Verilog and C testbenches and verification environments.
  • Implement tests for security features: cryptography, key management, secure boot, hardware root of trust.
  • Perform debugging of test failures, analyze root cause, and drive resolution with design and firmware teams.
  • Verify complex digital IP including multi-clock domains, AXI/AHB interfaces, multi-power domains and reset schemes.
  • Contribute to verification methodology, tools and reusable infrastructure across teams.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to project planning and scheduling as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful candidates.

  • Strong verification skills with SystemVerilog/UVM, Verilog, and C; experience with formal and hardware/firmware co-verification.
  • Demonstrated experience verifying Security Hardware, embedded processor systems, applied cryptography, secure boot and key management.
  • Experience with complex IP architectures: multi-clock domains, AXI/AHB protocols, multi-power domains and reset architectures.
  • Scripting skills (Perl, Python, Tcl or similar) for automation and infrastructure development.
  • Experience with ARM-based designs or ARM system architectures and verification of IP/SoC projects that include embedded microprocessors.
  • Low-level programming and firmware debug experience (C, assembler) and familiarity with firmware/hardware co-debug techniques.

Nice-to-have:

  • Clock domain crossing verification experience.
  • Power-aware verification experience.
  • Experience with formal verification tools and methodologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
