Job Title
Senior Test Development Engineer
Role Summary
Take technical ownership of automated test equipment (ATE) solutions for RF and PMIC semiconductor products from new product introduction (NPI) through high-volume manufacturing (HVM).
Drive test strategy and execution, develop and debug test programs and hardware, resolve complex manufacturing issues, and coordinate cross-functional teams to meet quality, yield, and cost targets.
Experience Level
Senior — 8+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor test development or product/test engineering.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on end-to-end ATE test development, production readiness, advanced debugging, and technical leadership across product and manufacturing teams.
- Own end-to-end ATE test development: test hardware, design-for-test (DFT), software, and continuous optimization.
- Develop, debug, and maintain test programs on ATE platforms (e.g., DMDX, ETS88); LTX-ac experience is a strong plus.
- Define and optimize test coverage and test time to meet quality and cost targets.
- Drive NPI to HVM test readiness including qualification, correlation, and release decisions.
- Act as technical escalation point for yield loss, test escapes, and system-level failures.
- Perform deep root-cause analysis across tester, handler, probe card, and device interactions.
- Lead initiatives for yield improvement, test-time reduction, and capacity optimization in HVM.
- Coordinate with OSATs and internal manufacturing teams to ensure stable high-volume production.
- Debug and support test hardware such as probe cards, sockets, load boards, and handler interfaces.
- Use lab instrumentation (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, multimeter, RF equipment) for advanced debugging.
- Collaborate with Design, Product Engineering, Quality, and Process teams and provide test-manufacturability feedback.
- Mentor junior test engineers and technicians; contribute to standardizing test strategy and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience.
- Proven experience with ATE test execution, development, and debugging.
- Solid understanding of RF, mixed-signal, and PMIC test fundamentals.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting (C/C++, Python, Perl, VBA).
- Experience with Windows and Linux environments.
- Experience supporting High Volume Manufacturing (HVM).
- Knowledge of PCB, load board, and probe card design and related tools (Altium, Cadence).
- Familiarity with process control, statistical analysis, and manufacturing data monitoring.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead technically complex projects and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Experience working with geographically distributed or global engineering teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Hands-on experience with specific ATE platforms (DMDX, ETS88); LTX-ac is a strong plus.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience acceptable.
