Senior System Safety Lead

Role Summary

Lead system safety architecture and prototyping within the CTO Functional Safety Competence Center for automotive and industrial applications. Guide teams to create fault-tolerant, model-based safety solutions and influence future SOC/IC roadmaps.

Manage a small local engineering team and ensure successful deployment of the Safety MBD lifecycle in innovation projects.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Requires 10+ years designing, architecting, and validating safety-critical embedded systems; automotive domain experience is mandatory.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Define and prototype system safety concepts for automotive and robotic solutions.
• Create and maintain safety technology roadmaps, including autonomous vehicles and energy distribution.
• Drive innovation and influence SOC/IC product roadmaps.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a small local team of engineers.
• Define, maintain, and deploy the Safety Model-Based Design (MBD) lifecycle in projects.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred qualifications:

• Deep expertise in ISO 26262 (mandatory); IEC 61508 is desirable.
• 10+ years architecting, designing, and validating safety-critical embedded systems; automotive environments mandatory.
• 5+ years technical experience with Model-Based Design (MBD); MBD experience combined with functional safety is preferred.
• Clear understanding of supplier vs OEM responsibilities for product safety.
• Proven technical leadership; prior people-management experience is desirable.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a closely related technical field (e.g., BSc/BS, MSc/MS).
