Job Title

Senior System Debug Engineer

Role Summary

Lead system-level design, integration, and debugging of AI and deep-learning solutions that span silicon, firmware, boards, and software. Work across hardware and software teams to define system implementations, validate performance and reliability, and deliver end-to-end technical solutions for data center and AI workloads.

Embedded in the Data Center Group, the role focuses on system bring-up, kernel- and platform-level debugging, performance validation, and driving improvements across RAS, power, security, memory, and GPU subsystems.

Experience Level

Senior. Typical experience expectation: 10+ years with a Bachelor's, 9+ years with a Master's, or 8+ years with a PhD (as stated in the posting).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system architecture definition, integration planning, debugging, and delivery of validated AI solutions.

  • Design and develop integrated AI system solutions combining hardware, firmware, board, and software components.
  • Lead system bring-up, isolation, root-cause analysis, and resolution of complex hardware–software interaction issues.
  • Perform kernel- and user-space debugging on Linux; develop and use logs, traces, and instrumentation to validate systems.
  • Define and execute benchmarks, simulate real-world cluster environments, and analyze prototype performance.
  • Specify system-level requirements, tradeoffs, and implementation plans emphasizing reliability, security, maintainability, and cost.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to influence AI product roadmaps and next-generation platform requirements.
  • Produce technical documentation, run deployments, and recommend engineering actions to improve resiliency and utilization.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items follow.

  • Linux kernel and system debugging: extensive experience diagnosing and resolving kernel- and system-level issues; expert in Linux internals and user-space debugging.
  • System-level debug skills: proven ability to isolate and resolve complex hardware–software interactions across multiple components.
  • Platform subsystems: strong working knowledge of RAS, power management, PCIe, performance analysis, security, Ethernet, HBM, and GPU subsystems.
  • GPU architecture and debug: understanding of GPU memory hierarchy, performance bottlenecks, and debug methodologies.
  • Programming: strong proficiency in Python, C, and C++.
  • Communication and learning: strong written and verbal communication and ability to rapidly acquire new technical knowledge.
  • Nice to have: experience with machine-learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow), deploying/debugging AI models, and familiarity with Intel and ARM platform architectures and related debug tools.

Education Requirements

Degree required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is stated as the minimum. The posting specifies experience-level equivalence: 10+ years industry experience with a Bachelor's, 9+ years with a Master's, or 8+ years with a PhD. Master's and PhD degrees in related technical fields are mentioned as alternatives. No specific certifications were listed.
