Senior Staff Signal Integrity Engineer
Role Summary
This role involves being a key member of the Data Centre Custom Compute Group at Marvell, focusing on high-performance hardware design for SoC products tailored for Datacenter, Storage, and AI applications.
Experience Level
Senior level with a requirement of 10-12 years of related professional experience depending on educational background.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities include:
- Engaging with Hardware Engineering, Package Design, and SoC Design Teams to define Signal Integrity/Power Integrity (SI/PI) requirements.
- Performing pre-layout simulations and generating layout guidelines and checklists.
- Reviewing schematics to analyze feasibility and guiding PCB layout for optimal design.
- Conducting SI/PI simulations and delivering error-free reports.
- Measuring fabricated PCBs and correlating results with simulations.
Requirements
The ideal candidate must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 12+ years of experience or a Master’s/PhD with 10+ years.
- Strong knowledge of electromagnetic principles and microwave theory.
- Experience with 2-D and 3-D EM simulation tools (Ansys HFSS, SI-Wave, Cadence Clarity, PowerSI).
- Familiarity with schematic and layout tools (Cadence Allegro, Mentor Expedition, Orcad).
- Ability to manage cross-functional hardware development teams effectively.
- Skills in automating SI, PI, and packaging tasks using scripting tools (Python, TCL).
- Power plane design knowledge with simulation experience.
- Familiarity with circuit analysis tools (ADS, HSpice) and high-speed signaling knowledge.
- Experience with VNA and TDR measurements is a plus.
- Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required, advanced degrees are preferred.
