Senior Staff R&D Engineer - Licensing and Security

Develop and maintain core licensing and security infrastructure for Synopsys products, with a focus on system-level software for Unix/Linux environments. The role spans architecture, implementation, debugging, and production deployment of licensing solutions and security features.

Senior — typically 5–8 years of relevant hands-on development experience in system-level C/C++ on Unix/Linux.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, development, and operational support of licensing and security systems.
- Design, implement, and ship Synopsys Common Licensing components from architecture through production deployment.
- Develop robust system-level software for heterogeneous Unix/Linux environments.
- Diagnose and resolve complex system and security issues; use debugging tools for deep troubleshooting.
- Prioritize performance, reliability, accuracy, and robustness in product releases.
- Research and integrate advances in licensing systems, application security, and cryptography.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet development schedules and quality targets.

Must-have:
- 5–8 years of development experience in C/C++ with system-level programming on Unix/Linux.
- Deep knowledge of Unix signals, multithreading and synchronization, socket programming, networking, system calls, and OS internals.
- Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Knowledge of software security concepts and cryptographic algorithms.
- Proficiency with scripting for automation (Perl, Python).
- Experience with debugging tools (e.g., gdb) for system software troubleshooting.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to assembly programming.
- Familiarity with FLEXlm or other licensing systems.
