Senior Staff Engineer, Physical Design
Role Summary
The Senior Staff Engineer in Physical Design will work on the physical design and methodology for developing next-generation high-performance processor chips. This includes collaboration with local and global teams and engaging with engineering challenges in a collaborative environment.
Experience Level
Senior level, requiring 8+ years of progressive experience in back-end physical design and verification.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with design teams across disciplines to ensure timely design convergence and integration.
- Implementing and supporting multi-voltage designs throughout all implementation phases using standard EDA tools.
- Driving assembly and design closure with RTL design teams.
- Providing technical direction and mentorship to junior colleagues.
- Writing scripts in Shell, Python, and TCL for data extraction and productivity enhancements.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in back-end physical design and verification.
- Proficiency in full-chip & sub-hierarchy integration and digital design environments.
- Strong understanding of RTL to GDS flows.
- Good scripting skills in Perl, TCL, and Python.
- Knowledge of Verilog and digital logic architecture.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with multi-voltage and low-power design techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with Cadence Innovus is preferred.
Education Requirements
Expected educational background includes a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
