Job Title

Senior Staff Engineer, Firmware Development

Role Summary

Design and implement firmware and system software for Marvell storage and networking SoCs with emphasis on Rust-based data-plane and fast-path components. Lead technical workstreams, collaborate with SoC, hardware and systems teams, and drive performance and reliability improvements across firmware stacks.

Work covers ARM/MIPS-based CPUs, coprocessors, hardware accelerators, firmware bring-up, and production support for storage and networking products.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 12 years of relevant firmware/software development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Architect, design and develop system and firmware software (Rust/C/C++) for high-performance network and storage products.
  • Implement data-plane/fast-path features; design data structures and algorithms optimized for Marvell ARM/MIPS SoCs, coprocessors and accelerators.
  • Troubleshoot hardware bring-up, multi-threaded and virtualized environments; use simulators for pre-silicon validation.
  • Analyze and remove performance bottlenecks; recommend hardware/software co-design improvements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve customer issues and support mass production readiness.
  • Plan, estimate and lead execution of feature development; mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills:

  • Strong software/firmware engineering background with embedded system experience.
  • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in firmware or system software development.
  • Experience developing security and/or storage products and working closely with SoC development teams.
  • Proficiency in Rust; experience with C and C++ and embedded firmware tools and techniques.
  • Experience leading development of independent modules within large firmware stacks.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and mentor junior engineers.
  • Preferred: experience with cryptographic/security firmware (HSMs, TLS, RSA/EC/AES/SHA), PKCS#11/OpenSSL Engine, NVMe firmware, firmware simulators for pre-silicon development, familiarity with Agile, and knowledge of ARM processor architectures.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field as stated in the posting.
