Senior Staff Digital Field Applications Engineer for EMEA Automotive (f/m/d)
Role Summary
The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) will support automotive customers across EMEA on digital products (MCU and SoC). The role acts as a technical advisor, partnering with sales and other FAEs to convert customer engagements into revenue from prototype to mass production.
Primary responsibilities include providing deep technical support, promoting the digital product portfolio, and driving customer projects to production while managing relationships with account and product teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. The posting prefers a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in embedded processing or similar customer-facing technical roles.
Responsibilities
The role combines customer-facing engineering, sales support, and project ownership across the assigned territory.
- Act as primary technical contact and advisor for assigned automotive customers.
- Collaborate with Account Managers and other FAEs (Analog & Power, Connectivity) to build customer relationships.
- Promote and demonstrate Renesas digital portfolio, including embedded processors and high-performance compute solutions.
- Provide hands-on design and development support to solve customer technical challenges and win business.
- Drive opportunities from demand creation through qualification to mass production.
- Develop and maintain in-depth product and solution knowledge relevant to customer applications.
- Travel within the assigned territory to customer sites as required.
Requirements
Looking for a technically strong, customer-focused engineer with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must-have: Hands-on programming in C/C++ and/or Python; practical experience with Linux environments.
- Must-have: Strong technical knowledge of microcontroller applications and embedded processing.
- Must-have: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and manage customer engagements.
- Must-have: Mobility for customer travel and strong command of English and local language.
- Nice-to-have: Previous hardware design experience and familiarity with tools such as Altium Designer.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with development environments/IDEs such as Renesas e² Studio, STM32Cube, Espressif ESP-IDF, or Eclipse.
- Nice-to-have: Strategic and commercial thinking to identify key customer projects and recommend solutions.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or (Technical) Computer Science with knowledge of microcontroller applications (as stated). The posting does not list explicit equivalent-experience language or additional certifications.
