Role Summary
Senior Staff Applications Engineer responsible for supporting customer integration and application of Marvell SerDes IP across customer platforms. The role focuses on SerDes performance optimization, DSP algorithm support, mixed-signal debug, system validation, and customer-facing technical guidance.
Works with product management, design engineering, and QA to ensure product capabilities meet customer requirements.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 5–8+ years of relevant industry experience in SerDes IP, DSP algorithm development, and mixed-signal circuit design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include customer support, technical troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration to enable successful SerDes IP deployment.
- Engage with customers to gather requirements and guide SerDes IP integration into their systems.
- Provide hands-on technical support during design, bring-up, and deployment phases.
- Optimize SerDes IP performance focusing on DSP algorithms and mixed-signal front-end behavior.
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex SerDes, signal-integrity, and link issues.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, validation plans, and training materials.
- Create and execute validation test cases/scripts and generate test reports.
- Collaborate with product management, design teams, and QA to align product features with customer needs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, practical experience, and interpersonal capabilities. Education items are listed under Education Requirements below.
- 5–8+ years practical experience with SerDes IP, high-speed serial protocols, DSP algorithms, and mixed-signal design.
- Deep knowledge of high-speed serial protocols and system application (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet) and their electrical compliance testing.
- Proven DSP algorithm design and implementation experience (equalization, filtering, error correction).
- Extensive mixed-signal circuit experience (PLLs, ADCs, DACs, high-speed analog front-ends).
- Familiarity with EDA/tools for mixed-signal design and verification (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys).
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment for signal-integrity analysis and debugging (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
- Experience creating and running validation tests and producing validation reports.
- Strong problem-solving, written/verbal communication, and ability to work in fast-paced collaborative teams.
- Ability to work directly with customers and present technical information to varied audiences.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Ph.D. is a plus. (Education preferred; relevant advanced degree desirable.)
Compensation: Expected base pay range (USD): $131,010 - $196,300 per annum.
