Senior SoC Design Verification Manager
Role Summary
Lead and build a design verification organization for Marvell’s Custom Compute Solutions Business Unit in San Diego, responsible for DV, emulation, and post-silicon validation for advanced AI and XPU custom SoC programs.
This is a foundational leadership role: set verification methodology, define verification strategies and timelines, evaluate tools, and recruit and develop a high-performance team while collaborating with architecture, design, DFT, PD, firmware, and system teams.
Experience Level
Senior — managerial/lead role. Requires multi-year verification leadership and extensive hands-on verification experience (see Requirements for details).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on establishing and executing verification strategy and building the local team and processes.
- Lead DV, emulation, and post-silicon validation activities with a zero-defect mindset.
- Define verification scope, methodology, test plans, and TB architectures.
- Set execution timelines, monitor progress, and drive corrective actions to meet milestones.
- Drive tool evaluation and selection and implement productivity improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with architecture, design, DFT, PD, firmware, and systems teams.
- Hire, train, and retain a high-performance verification engineering team; address ongoing training needs.
- Monitor industry verification trends and adapt verification practices accordingly.
Requirements
Key technical and leadership must-haves and preferred skills.
- 10+ years of verification and firmware/software development experience (or 8+ years with advanced degree).
- 3+ years leading a design verification team.
- Hands-on experience with SystemVerilog and UVM and building directed + random verification environments.
- Experience writing detailed test plans and developing sophisticated verification environments and TB architectures.
- Proficiency with scripting (Python or Perl) and familiarity with EDA verification tools.
- Object-oriented design and implementation experience.
- Good familiarity with Linux OS; programming skills in C++ and ARM assembly are desired.
- Experience with emulation and post-silicon validation practices.
- Strong attention to detail, initiative, and ability to work with differing opinions in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of networking protocols is a plus.
Education Requirements
Degree preferred: BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science; MS or PhD acceptable. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree and describes different experience thresholds depending on degree level (e.g., 10+ years with BS, 8+ years with MS/PhD).
