Job Title
Senior Signal and Power Integrity Engineer
Role Summary
Perform signal and power-integrity analysis and PDN design for high-speed ASIC, package, and PCB systems. The role focuses on simulation, measurement correlation, and automation to deliver SI/PI solutions for interfaces such as NVLink, PCIe, DP2.1, HDMI2.1, and USB4.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 5+ years of industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Perform system-level SI and power-integrity simulations for NVLink, PCIe Gen6, DP2.1/HDMI2.1, USB4, and other high-speed I/O.
- Design and optimize power delivery networks (PDNs) across interposers, packages, and PCBs.
- Post-layout SI/PI model extraction and prepare results for project review and sign-off.
- Validate and improve SI/PI models through lab measurements and correlate with simulations (VNA, TDR, DSO).
- Automate simulation, data collection, analysis, and visualization using MATLAB, JMP, Python, or similar tools.
- Collaborate with ASIC, package, and PCB teams to resolve system-level signal and power issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Strong understanding of electromagnetics, transmission-line theory, via behavior, S/Y/Z parameters, and EMI considerations.
- Hands-on experience with EM and SI tools such as ANSYS HFSS, Q3D, SIwave, and Cadence PowerSI.
- PDN evaluation using layout extraction tools and SPICE/time-domain simulations for power noise.
- Die power-delivery modeling experience; familiarity with tools such as CSM/Redhawk or Raptor-X.
- Familiarity with voltage-regulator and board power-supply modeling (Simplis or SPICE) and lab instruments (VNA, TDR, oscilloscope).
- Experience correlating measurements and simulations and delivering actionable SI/PI results.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, VBS, or C for simulation automation and data analysis.
- Knowledge of interface timing budgets, system modeling, and high-speed I/O design (clocking, Tx/Rx design, equalization).
- Experience developing novel algorithms or methodologies to improve SI/PI/EMI modeling and accounting for manufacturing variation.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience). The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
