Job Title
Senior RF Front-End Application Engineer
Role Summary
Lead research and development of RF front-end technologies for next-generation wireless systems. The role focuses on design, simulation, prototyping, and validation of components such as PAs, LNAs, filters, tuners, and switches, and requires cross-functional coordination with antenna, baseband, silicon design, packaging, and manufacturing teams.
Position is based in Istanbul, with approximately 10% travel for testing, partner visits, and collaboration.
Experience Level
Senior — 8+ years of experience in RF front-end design and R&D.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include driving RF front-end innovation, performing detailed simulation and prototyping, validating performance in the lab, and collaborating across product and manufacturing teams.
- Lead R&D of RF front-end architectures (PA, LNA, filters, tuners, switches) and investigate emerging technologies (GaN, SOI, CMOS, MEMS).
- Perform system- and circuit-level modeling and simulation using tools such as ADS, HFSS, CST, and MATLAB; optimize impedance matching, linearity, noise figure, and efficiency.
- Prototype and iterate designs; work with PCB/layout teams for high-frequency implementations.
- Develop and execute test plans; perform RF measurements with VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and load-pull systems; analyze results and refine designs.
- Collaborate with antenna, baseband, silicon design, packaging, and manufacturing teams to ensure system integration, scalability, and reliability.
- Provide technical input for product roadmaps, contribute to IP development, and document technical findings in reports or whitepapers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 8+ years experience in RF front-end design and R&D (senior-level hands-on role).
- Proven expertise in design and system-level integration of RF components (PA, LNA, filters, switches).
- Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation tools and RF measurement techniques (ADS, HFSS, CST, MATLAB; VNAs, spectrum analyzers, load-pull).
- Hands-on experience with PCB layout for high-frequency circuits and practical prototyping.
- Solid understanding of wireless communication standards (LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
- Strong problem-solving skills, technical communication, and ability to work across disciplines.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with advanced packaging (SiP, MCM) and thermal management.
- Knowledge of antenna design and coexistence strategies.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards (FCC, ETSI, 3GPP).
- Track record of patents, publications, or contributions to industry standards.
Education Requirements
Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
