Senior Principal System CAS - Advanced Drone Systems (f/m/d)
Role Summary
Lead System CAS activities for advanced dual-use drone systems in Aerospace, acting as the primary technical interface between NXP and customer system architects and developers. Coordinate cross-functional technical input from business-line experts and R&D to shape system solutions and product requirements.

Responsibilities
Work directly with customers and internal teams to define, propose, and validate system-level solutions for advanced drone platforms.
- Lead and coordinate System CAS activities and communications for advanced drone systems in Aerospace.
- Serve as primary technical interface to drone system architects and system developers at customers.
- Provide technical insight and support around NXP system solutions for platforms, avionics and mission systems.
- Propose NXP system solutions to meet customer requirements and drive architectural tradeoffs.
- Build and maintain customer system knowledge and monitor emerging market/technology trends.
- Create system-level trainings, application notes, white papers and brochures for internal and external audiences.
- Translate customer and market needs into requirements for internal R&D hardware and software organizations.
- Specify application use cases and performance targets for SoC modules and IP under development.
- Collaborate with R&D on specifications and implementation; align marketing, customers and partners on architecture concepts.
- Establish and develop strategic relationships with key engineering and management contacts at customer organizations.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in aerospace, drone systems, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of advanced drone systems, avionics, connectivity, autonomy, and mission system integration.
- Knowledge of semiconductor architecture or R&D and hands-on experience designing with components.
- Practical mix of hardware and software skills in the candidate's area of expertise.
- Demonstrated customer engagement experience; comfortable interfacing with system architects and developers.
- Ability to work at the system level and determine optimal partitioning between hardware and software.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity when implementing new technologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills across technical and business stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30–40%.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a similar field is required. Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent practical experience may be considered where applicable.
