Job Title
Senior Principal FPGA Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead FPGA verification efforts for complex FPGA SoC designs used in space and other high-reliability systems. Work with electrical and FPGA engineers to develop verification environments, validate partitioned digital systems and advanced FPGA functions, and deliver verified designs for production and R&D programs.
Minimum $15,000 sign-on bonus for external hires. This role supports spacecraft and high-reliability payloads and requires collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 8+ years of related experience (per posting guidance).
Responsibilities
Accountabilities and typical duties for this role include:
- Lead verification efforts for complex FPGA SoC designs and verification teams.
- Develop and execute verification plans using OVM/UVM methodologies and SystemVerilog.
- Verify partitioned digital systems, SOC architectures, digital filters, image processing blocks, and communication interfaces.
- Create and maintain verification environments and testbenches using vendor tools and simulators.
- Collaborate with FPGA and electrical design engineers to flow down requirements and resolve issues.
- Use Xilinx (AMD) toolchains (Vivado/Vitis) and Mentor ModelSim/QuestaSim for verification and debugging.
- Maintain effective working relationships across teams and provide technical leadership and presentations as needed.
- Work on-site three or more days per week and travel between facilities as required.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications, technical skills, and clear constraints for candidates.
-
Must-have: U.S. citizenship is required.
-
Must-have: 8+ years of related experience in FPGA verification or equivalent industry experience.
-
Must-have: Experience with VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog for verification.
-
Must-have: Practical experience with UVM/OVM verification methodologies.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with FPGA toolchains and simulators such as Xilinx Vivado/Vitis and Mentor ModelSim/QuestaSim.
-
Must-have: Strong background in electronic systems or embedded systems and high-speed digital design practices.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with PCIe, Ethernet, signal processing/DSP algorithms, cybersecurity for embedded systems, and Mentor Graphics HyperLynx for signal-integrity analysis.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior work in space, aerospace, or other high-reliability environments and demonstrated technical leadership in FPGA design.
Education Requirements
BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required. A Master’s degree or Ph.D. may substitute for two years of experience; related technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Degree should be from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
