Senior Principal Foundry Engineer - Product Engineering
Role Summary
Join the External Wafer Manufacturing team to lead local yield enhancement efforts for lead products during new technology introduction (NTI), process transfers and new fab enablement. The role coordinates technical activities between NXP product/technology teams and external foundries to achieve stable, high-yield production.
Experience Level
Senior level. Minimum 10 years of semiconductor experience in yield enhancement or a similar area.
Responsibilities
Drive and standardize yield improvement activities across products, technologies and foundries; enable automated yield tracking and analysis; and coordinate cross-functional stakeholders.
- Develop yield monitoring methodologies and infrastructure for automated yield tracking and analysis.
- Define and implement yield enhancement strategies for products during NTI and process transfers.
- Assess corporate yield needs and prioritize focus areas to meet business goals; influence internal teams and foundries to allocate resources.
- Work with foundries to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to improve yield across technology nodes.
- Generate and standardize Best Known Methods (BKMs) for yield enhancement across platforms.
- Coordinate closely with global NXP technology and product teams and with semiconductor foundries in Asia.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, languages and experience; concise list of preferred extras follows.
- Minimum 10 years semiconductor experience in yield enhancement or closely related field.
- Fluent spoken Mandarin (required) and proficient English for regular interaction with Mandarin-speaking suppliers.
- Strong knowledge of yield enhancement techniques and statistical/data analysis for yield.
- Strong understanding of failure analysis techniques.
- Good understanding of SoC architecture and product test patterns.
- Preferred: experience implementing yield management systems; programming/coding skills and familiarity with database structures.
- Preferred: ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners to drive results.
Education Requirements
Minimum M.S. (Master's) in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical discipline.
