Role Summary

The Senior Principal Electrical Engineer will be involved in the design, implementation, verification, and integration of a wide variety of high-performance digital ASICs and FPGAs. This role focuses on signal processing and information assurance products across Mission Systems on the Microelectronics Technology team.

Experience Level

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Requirements capture and ASIC/FPGA digital architecture and design using RTL.
  • Contribute to engineering estimates for new program pursuits.
  • Provide technical leadership by breaking down work, planning activities, and reporting status.
  • Recommend new tools and practices for continuous improvement in ASIC/FPGA design flow.

Requirements

  • Experience with RTL coding and simulation in VHDL or Verilog.
  • Able to understand System Architecture to develop FPGA implementation.
  • Skills in digital circuit architecture, design, resource tradeoffs, timing analysis, and timing closure.
  • Testbench development for verification of RTL blocks using VHDL or System Verilog.
  • Familiarity with ASIC and/or FPGA simulation and synthesis tools (e.g., Modelsim, Synplify, Quartus, Vivado).
  • Knowledge of revision control concepts and tools (e.g., Git, Subversion).
  • Must possess an active and transferable U.S. government issued secret security clearance prior to start date.
  • Proficiency in Unix, scripting, C/C++, and/or Perl is preferred.
