Senior Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
As a Senior Physical Design Engineer at Analog Devices, you will be responsible for delivering complex ASIC and SoC designs across multiple technology nodes. You will lead activities related to floorplanning, place-and-route (PNR), timing closure, and physical verification, ensuring high-quality tapeouts while collaborating across teams.
Experience Level
Senior level, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in advanced ASIC/SoC physical design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing end-to-end physical implementation for major IP blocks and full-chip designs.
- Developing and optimizing floorplans using advanced nodes.
- Executing place-and-route, clock tree synthesis, and ensuring timing closure.
- Performing detailed static timing analysis and driving sign-off across PVT corners.
- Identifying and resolving physical verification issues in partnership with process and CAD teams.
- Automating design flows to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet performance and project milestones.
- Mentoring junior engineers and documenting methodologies for best practices.
- Demonstrating agility and leadership in adapting to changing business needs.
Requirements
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in advanced ASIC/SoC physical design, especially at 16nm and below.
- Strong proficiency in floorplanning, PNR, STA, and physical verification using industry EDA tools.
- Experience in automating design flows using Tcl, Perl, or Python.
- Deep understanding of fabrication process limitations and sign-off methodologies.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills in a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field is required.
