Senior Performance Architect

Role Summary

The Senior Performance Architect will join the Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team, responsible for enhancing the cloud infrastructure through effective performance modeling and innovative solutions. This role focuses on achieving operational success for the Cobalt program through hardware manufacturing and optimization.

Experience Level

Senior level with a requirement of 5+ years of technical engineering experience.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Senior Performance Architect include:

  • Developing performance modeling methodologies and owning System on Chip (SOC) cycle-accurate performance models in C++ and Python.
  • Identifying performance bottlenecks and proposing architectural changes in collaboration with micro-architects.
  • Leveraging AI tools for performance modeling and analysis.
  • Verifying SOC performance models against RTL implementations.
  • Working with SOC architecture teams to ensure high performance and efficiency.
  • Demonstrating Microsoft core values such as Customer Focus and Collaboration.

Requirements

The following qualifications are required:

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 1+ year of experience, or Master's with 4+ years, or Bachelor's with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • 3+ years of experience in SOC or IP performance models.
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture and performance tradeoffs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

Doctorate or Master's or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
