Senior OSAT Engineer

Role Summary

Lead outsourced assembly and test engineering across Altera's global OSAT and substrate supplier network for FPGA/SoC products. Responsible for NPI readiness, yield optimization, cost reduction, qualification, and supplier risk mitigation.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 10+ years' experience in advanced packaging and OSAT supply-chain engineering.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on technical sourcing strategy, cost optimization, supplier management, and NPI execution:

• Develop and own global sourcing strategy for advanced substrates and OSAT packaging technologies (e.g., FCBGA, high-density interconnects).
• Lead value-engineering initiatives to reduce manufacturing and materials costs.
• Build granular should-cost models for bumping, wafer-level packaging, assembly, and final test.
• Align technical roadmaps with hardware architecture teams and foundries for 2.5D/3D, chiplets, and co-packaged optics.
• Manage supplier relationships and drive yield and price improvements through quarterly business reviews and performance scorecards.
• Engage early in NPI to secure capacity, multi-source critical components, and mitigate manufacturing risks.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills:

• 10+ years of domain experience in advanced packaging (Flip Chip, wafer-level packaging, 2.5D/3D IC, interposers) and high-density substrate manufacturing.
• 10+ years of supply-chain and sourcing experience negotiating MSAs and capacity agreements with global OSATs.
• Proven track record in value engineering and structural cost reduction (teardowns, alternative materials, process optimization).
• Advanced analytical skills in financial modeling and semiconductor cost accounting; experience with supplier scorecards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage executive-level supplier relationships.

Education Requirements

MBA or Masters degree in Engineering.
