Job Title

Senior NPI Product Engineer

Role Summary

Work on New Product Introduction (NPI) for analog/mixed-signal and CMOS/BiCMOS semiconductor products, guiding programs from concept through production release and manufacturing transfer. Collaborate with Design, Test, Validation, Quality, Reliability, Applications, Marketing, and Operations to define testability, characterisation, yield optimisation, and manufacturing readiness.

Position is hybrid based in Bristol (4 days in office, Monday–Thursday) and reports to the Manager of NPI Product Engineering.

Experience Level

Senior — typical guidance: approximately 5–8 years of relevant semiconductor product, test, or design engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary accountabilities include supporting NPI programs, defining test and manufacturability requirements, performing characterisation and correlation work, and supporting yield and production quality activities.

  • Support NPI programs from concept through product release and transfer to high-volume manufacturing; coordinate cross-functional activities.
  • Assist in defining Design for Testability (DfT) and Design for Manufacturability (DfM) requirements and support ATE test solution development and optimisation.
  • Contribute to product characterisation, PVT correlation, datasheet validation, and statistically driven test limit definitions.
  • Perform wafer-level and bench characterisation and analyse data across process, voltage, and temperature variations.
  • Support yield modelling, DOE planning, test-time optimisation, and identification of yield-improvement opportunities.
  • Support manufacturing quality monitoring, failure analysis, and root-cause investigations for production and field returns.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve test coverage, guard-banding, and reduce test cost.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills, excluding formal education (listed separately).

  • Must-have: 5–8 years of experience in semiconductor product, test, or design engineering; familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as Excel or JMP; foundational understanding of semiconductor physics and analog/mixed-signal IC principles; strong analytical, structured problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to DfT, DfM, and ATE methodologies; awareness of ATE platforms (Advantest, Teradyne) and bench test equipment; familiarity with semiconductor qualification standards (JEDEC, HTOL, ESD, Latch-up); experience with yield modelling and DOE.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required; Master’s degree preferred. Relevant internships or comparable practical experience are considered.
