Senior Member Technical Staff (IP Design & Microarchitecture)
Role Summary
Design and deliver production-quality IPs by defining micro-architecture, implementing RTL and high-level implementations, and optimizing for power, performance, and area. Work with algorithm architects and cross-functional teams to convert algorithms into hardware accelerators for ASIC/FPGA targets.
Focus on architecture decisions, implementation trade-offs, verification sign-off, and documentation.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 5–10 years of relevant experience in RTL design and digital microarchitecture.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for the role.
- Architect and implement IP functionality in SystemC/C++ and RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog).
- Translate DSP and algorithmic requirements into micro/RTL architectures while managing cost and quality trade-offs.
- Use High-Level Synthesis (HLS) to explore implementation alternatives and optimize PPA.
- Perform power, area, and performance analyses and drive optimizations.
- Lead verification activities to achieve coverage closure and meet sign-off criteria.
- Author clear design and architecture documentation explaining implementation choices.
- Collaborate across teams through the full ASIC design cycle, including bring-up.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and preferred additional qualifications.
- Extensive RTL design experience (Verilog, SystemVerilog) and strong digital microarchitecture skills.
- Proficiency in SystemC and C++ for modeling and implementation.
- Experience coding in C, C++, Python, and Bash for tooling and verification tasks.
- Proven ability to decompose complex DSP algorithms into efficient hardware architectures.
- Experience with verification methodologies and driving coverage closure for IPs.
- Familiarity with the full ASIC design flow and practical bring-up experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic processor architecture.
- Experience with High-Level Synthesis (HLS) for ASICs or FPGAs is a strong advantage (preferred).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree preferred; PhD scholars with approximately 6 years of relevant experience are also preferred. (Degrees explicitly referenced: Bachelor's, Master's, PhD.)
