Job Title

Senior Mechanical Hardware Design Engineer, IC Product

Role Summary

Lead mechanical design and execution for IC product test platforms, including test boards, system-level test mechanical interfaces, HTOL reliability platforms, sockets and thermal solutions. Work across R&D and production teams to deliver robust production-ready mechanical and thermal implementations for high-power, high-speed devices.

Position is within NVIDIA Networking and collaborates with board design, signal integrity, optical interfaces, firmware, and test groups, and with ATE/prober vendors for production test solutions.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience working with board design and production test environments.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include mechanical design, lab bring-up, and delivery of production-ready test platforms and interfaces.

  • Define mechanical and electrical specifications for test boards, connectors, sockets, and thermal solutions.
  • Perform mechanical and thermal design (including socket and high-power thermal strategies) and component selection with board-layout considerations.
  • Lead lab bring-up, debugging, and validation of mechanical and thermal constraints for test platforms and production floor implementation.
  • Design and qualify robust sockets and interfaces for high-speed and high-power devices on ATE/prober equipment.
  • Lead HTOL (high-temperature operating life) and other reliability test platform development.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with optical interfaces, board design, signal integrity, layout, firmware, system-level testing, and production teams.
  • Work with ATE/prober vendors (e.g., UF and UF Plus testers) to develop test and thermal solutions for current and future products.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; advantages / nice-to-have listed separately.

  • Must-have: At least 5+ years mechanical design experience working with CAD platforms alongside board design teams.
  • Must-have: Experience with mechanical design for digital, power and high-speed electronic systems and constraints.
  • Must-have: Experience with optical-electrical interfaces and associated mechanical interfaces.
  • Must-have: Project management skills and experience coordinating across multiple engineering and production teams.
  • Must-have: Hands-on lab experience with bring-up, debugging, and implementing test solutions on production floors.
  • Nice-to-have: System-level understanding of production SLT and final test processes and familiarity with ATE/prober equipment.
  • Personal skills: Self-directed, multi-disciplined, able to manage multiple tasks and maintain strong interpersonal relationships.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering required.
