Job Title
Senior Manager, Mixed-Signal and Systems Validation
Role Summary
Lead a validation and system-integration engineering team responsible for post-silicon validation, mixed-signal IP verification, and system-level testing of HDD read channels and high-performance AI ASICs. The role defines validation strategy, drives silicon bring-up and characterization in the lab, and ensures products meet performance, reliability, and quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 15+ years of relevant technical experience and 5+ years managing engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Accountable for technical leadership, delivery of validation programs, and establishment of scalable test infrastructure.
- Manage and mentor validation and system integration engineers; build a high-performing team.
- Plan resources, schedules, and budgets to meet program milestones.
- Define and execute comprehensive pre-silicon and post-silicon validation plans for HDD read channels and AI ASICs.
- Lead silicon bring-up, characterization, root-cause analysis, and debug in the lab.
- Drive design and deployment of scalable automated test infrastructure and methodologies.
- Collaborate with ASIC Design, Architecture, Firmware, and Product teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Oversee system-level testing, board-level debug, and validation using lab instrumentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical and managerial qualifications for success in this role.
- 15+ years of experience in read channel/HDD design/validation, post-silicon validation, mixed-signal IC characterization, or system engineering.
- 5+ years experience managing technical engineering teams.
- Deep knowledge of HDD architectures, signal processing, and read channel technologies.
- Strong technical expertise with ADCs, PLLs, continuous-time filters, and closed-loop feedback systems.
- Experience with system-level testing (SLT), board-level debugging, and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers).
- Proficiency in test automation and scripting (examples: Python, MATLAB) and lab equipment automation.
- Strong data analysis skills for silicon characterization and a data-driven approach to debugging.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and executive audiences.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with pre-silicon emulation platforms (e.g., Palladium, Zebu) and experience with AI/ML ASIC accelerators.
Education Requirements
Master's (MS) or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
