Senior Manager, Design Engineering (RF/mm-wave)

Role Summary

Lead and manage an RF/mm-wave design engineering team in Richardson, TX, responsible for delivering MMIC, multichip module, and discrete RF products from concept through production. This role combines technical leadership, cross-functional program management, and customer engagement to meet performance, schedule, and cost targets.

Experience Level

Senior / Management. Requires substantial engineering and leadership experience; guidance per posting: 12+ years with a Bachelor's, 8+ years with a Master's, or 5+ years with a PhD. Also requires 3+ years as an engineering design manager.

Responsibilities

The manager will oversee team engineering activities and the full product development lifecycle.

  • Manage and mentor members of the RF/mm-wave design team.
  • Own MMIC, multichip module, and discrete new product development projects end-to-end.
  • Engage with external customers and sales to support new and legacy products.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities with Program Management, Marketing/PLM, Test Engineering, Applications, Packaging, Quality, Device Engineering, Modeling, and Manufacturing.
  • Monitor and improve development workflows to maximize productivity and minimize NPD costs.
  • Lead procedural, technology, or documentation initiatives.
  • Assist with staffing, training, and resource planning.

Requirements

Must-have professional qualifications, technical experience, and security status.

  • 3+ years' experience as an engineering design manager for RF/microwave components or equipment.
  • Significant hands-on experience in one or more areas: III‑V MMIC design, silicon RFIC design, multichip module design, or RF/microwave system design.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; self-motivated.
  • Position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • US citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 12+ years of combined experience; OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 8+ years; OR PhD in Electrical Engineering plus 5+ years.
